“It Takes a Village to Raise a City” was a 10m commissioned artwork for an office in Singapore. It revisits the “sooting” technique of charring bamboo weaves using candles, and tweaking the individual weaves for a pixelated effect. The vignette portrayed in this piece harkens back to the nostalgic landscapes of early fishing villages built along the coasts of Singapore.

“It Takes a Village to Raise a City”
